Meet the Attorney
Snehal Massey, Principal
SPM Law exists because Snehal wanted a different experience for her clients, and she needed a different experience for herself. In the world of family law, your choice of lawyers makes all the difference in the outcome of your family court case. After several years of family law practice, what Snehal realized is that the practice of family law does not need to be all-consuming of scarce resources like time, energy, and finances. Snehal believes in helping families through difficult transitions—efficiently with compassion. What she wants for her clients is what she wants for herself when hiring a professional—someone who is mindful of her resource limits.
Snehal first developed this belief about the practice of family law when she was an active observer of litigants and attorneys as a law clerk in the courtroom of the Hon. Ronald A. Silkworth (Ret.). Clerking for an associate judge on the Anne Arundel County, Maryland Circuit Court meant busy dockets full of all manner of family law cases. In her year there, she observed intimately the ways in which attorneys can help – or hinder – a client’s case. She left her clerkship knowing that being a client-centered advocate was the only way she would be happy as an attorney.
Since then, Snehal has purposefully pursued her goal of centering her clients in the resolution of their family law and family law-adjacent matters. She has worked as an associate at two prominent family law firms in the Baltimore, Maryland area. She argued a case in the Court of Special Appeals in 2019, which resulted in a published opinion by the intermediate appellate court. She is called upon, and relishes, the opportunity to serve as a Best Interest Attorney, Child Privilege Attorney, and Child Advocate Attorney throughout Maryland. Her family law peers have recognized her dogged efforts in improving family law in Maryland and since 2021 Snehal has been selected to the Rising Stars list, which is an exclusive list of top-rated attorneys who are chosen after a thorough evaluation.
Snehal’s advocacy does not end with an attorney-client relationship. She also extends her time and efforts to her community and serves as a leader with several professional organizations. She serves on the Executive Board and chairs the Racial Justice Committee of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, D.C. She is the vice-chair of the Baltimore County Bar Association Judicial Selection Committee and co-chairs the Family Law Committee of the Maryland Association for Justice. She is a member of several other bar organizations throughout Maryland. Snehal also serves on the board of Christalis, Inc., a non-profit organization that develops and maintains programs to help under-served children and families in various parts of the world.
Recognizing her commitment to learning and improvement, the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland selected Snehal as a fellow in its inaugural Professional Skills Academy. As a fellow, Snehal broadened her family law practice by providing direct representation to low-income litigants for issues ranging from landlord-tenant to consumer rights issues. She assisted low-income residents navigating tax sale issues as well as residents facing eviction proceedings.
As a wife and mom, Snehal recognizes how valuable, and limited, our time, energy, and finances are. That’s why when you hire SPM Law, you will get what is scarce these days—peace of mind.
